MORNIGN FLIGHT TO HEHO, then by car to INLE LAKE.
Upon reaching the edges of Inle Lake, board a
private motorboat to head out to Inle Lake, one of Myanmar’s most spectacular
sights. Pass villages built on stilts over the lake, inhabited by the local
Intha people. Observe the leg-rowing fishermen and see their floating gardens built up from strips of water hyacinth and mud
and anchored to the bottom with bamboo poles.
This morning
will be a ‘Inle’ farming experience to gather the cooking ingredients followed
by cooking with a local family.
- Fishing with the traditional Inthar style (note: boats are very unstable so unlikely that you will be able to try it yourselves but we will be alongside the fishing boat)
- Collecting the water hyacinth that is used to create the floating farms
- Head to a floating farm and pick vegetables (probably tomatoes)
Then continue to the Inthar family house to cook.
We’ll reach a traditional Inthar House at Tharlay village where
you will spend time preparing the dishes with the family. It’s a unique chance
to spend time with the locals and learn about their cuisine and culture. Of
course, there will be Inle Style Tomato Salad and other traditional Inthar
dishes (such as stuffed fish). Then your lunch will be served on a low table
and enjoy your lunch while you are sitting on the floor like local way.
Explore the
local crafts of Inle Lake with a stop at the weaving village of
Inpawkhone(weaving lotus-silk robes and scarves) and a cheroot factory,
where the typical Burmese cigars are made by hand.
Stop at
Burmese Cat Café in Inpawkone village for a coffee and a chance to see their
organic garden.
Return to
your hotel by car this evening.

meal at the hotel. (own account)
